Get the scoop on Basically Free Bike Rentals

San Francisco Bike Rentals – Bike the Golden Gate Bridge

Let's get one thing out of the way - yes, your bike rental really is basically free. Here's how it works: Rent a bike at our Fisherman's Wharf location on Columbus and Bay, and we'll give you a voucher for store credit at our Sports Basement location on the way to the bridge in the amount of your bike rental.

So, let's say you rent a bike for 3 hours. You'll pay $24 total for that rental bike, and we'll give you a voucher for $24 that you can spend at Sports Basement, our massive sporting goods store on Crissy Field. You'll roll out the door and follow a beautiful route along the Bay towards the Golden Gate Bridge. From Ghirardelli Square to Fort Mason, along the Marina and onto Crissy Field, where Sports Basement is located!

In fact, Sports Basement is one of the last places you can stop to refuel before you tackle the short hill up to the Golden Gate Bridge. Conveniently, we have one of the largest nutrition selections in the country: from CLIF bars to locally-made TCHO chocolate, water bottles to protein shakes, we're more than ready to get you fueled up for your ride across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Your $24 bike rental voucher will buy you quite a bit, too - we're famous for having the best brands at Basement prices! Need a little extra warmth? Grab a Patagonia fleece or a Nike windbreaker. Is the California sun making a rare appearance? We've got a massive selection of sunglasses to choose from, too. Honestly, it's hard NOT to find something you love at Sports Basement!

On top of all that, if you end up buying more than you can carry, we'll give you bike panniers to carry your purchases on your rental bike! We've got you covered in so many ways.

And again, you can use your bike rental voucher to pay for it all, effectively cancelling out the cost of your bike rental. It's basically free. So let's go over it one more time, to make sure our insanely good deal is crystal clear:

  1. Rent your bike at our location on Columbus and Bay.
  2. Get the value of your rental in store credit at Sports Basement.
  3. Enjoy an incredible (and basically free!) bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge!

And don't just take it from us; as Yelper Jill M . wrote, "Awesome bikes, awesome staff, awesome ride & awesome deal!! No catch---whatever you pay for your rental you get in store credit at an amazing, huge sports store on your beautiful ride!" Want to read more glowing reviews? Check out our reviews page!

What about fine print, you ask, as you scroll to the bottom of the page? There really isn't much: your store credit voucher expires 72 hours after your bike rental takes place. You can use your store credit on literally anything in the store, and we honestly can't think of anything else to include down here. Happy cycling!
